What documentation do I need to bring with me to process my passport application?

For a first-time adult passport, bring your completed (unsigned) application, proof of citizenship, proof of identification, and 2 separate payments: one for the application fee (check or money order only) and one for the execution fee (cash, check or money order).  For more detailed information please review the Apply for a Passport section.

What forms of payment do you accept?

  • Cash
  • Personal checks (up to $2,500.00)
  • Title Company’s and Attorney’s checks (up to $5,000.00)
  • Certified Bank Checks
  • Money Orders
  • Credit Cards

Exceptions:

  • We do not accept cash for the portion of the passport fees which are payable to the U.S. Department of State.
  • We do not accept personal checks for the payment of criminal fines, fees, and surcharges, nor for the filing of a business certificate.

What is the difference between a passport card and a passport book?

The passport card is the wallet-size travel document that can only be used to re-enter the United States at land border-crossings and sea ports-of-entry from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Bermuda. The card provides a less expensive, smaller, and convenient alternative to the passport book for those who travel frequently to these destinations by land or by sea. The passport card cannot be used for international travel by air.

What is the Veteran ID card I've heard about and how do I obtain one?

The “Return the F.A.V.O.R.” Veteran Discount Program (Find & Assist Veterans Of Record) is a way that our county can recognize the service and sacrifices made by our veterans.  The program allows eligible individuals to receive a free picture I.D. card which identifies them as an honorably discharged veteran or the surviving spouse of an honorably discharged veteran and allows them to obtain discounts on goods and services at participating businesses.

Who can access/obtain copies of DD 214 Military Discharge/Separation records?

No filed certificate or any information contained therein shall be disclosed to any person except the veteran or parent, spouse, dependent or child of the veteran, representative of the estate of the deceased veteran or a public official, acting within the scope of his or her employment, unless such disclosure is authorized in writing by the veteran.
